Immigrants to blame for Wall Street meltdown! Really?!?
Just when we thought we already had enough problems with the Wall Street fiasco, in walks Michelle Malkin. The right-wing blogger and television loudmouth has given us a new group to point fingers at. That's right, the current Wall Street meltdown has nothing to do with government ineptitude or failure to stem corporate greed... "It's the immigrants, stupid!"
In her syndicated column yesterday, Malkin stated "The Mother of All Bailouts has many fathers...But there's one giant paternal elephant in the room that has slipped notice: how illegal immigration, crime-enabling banks, and open-borders Bush policies fueled the mortgage crisis."
It's hard to be surprised by Malkin's "theories" anymore, but this really is a hysterical low.
Unfortunately, Malkin's claims are part of a broader trend involving right-wing media, think tanks, and anti-immigrant organizations. The Center for Immigration Studies (CIS), known for publishing less-than-credible research, recently released a report blaming immigrants for global warming. Then they claimed immigrants were conspiring to steal elections. What's next in the anti-immigrant blame game? Immigrants responsible for rising gas prices? Immigrants to blame for hurricanes?
Organizations and journalists advocating these claims are only making fools of themselves in the long run. Malkin is not going to convince the American public that immigrants are responsible for this financial meltdown. The CIS study doesn't even use real math. We think these claims speak for themselves.
What the Malkins of the world might not realize, however, is how their words will soon come back to haunt them.
Latino voters are poised and ready to be key players in the November election. Articles like Malkin's are fueling immigrant voters nationwide to get out to the polls with unprecedented force. Immigrants, and Latino immigrants in particular, are tired of immigration being used as an excuse for every problem imaginable.
Latino voters are ready to make their voices heard this November, to drown out the Michelle Malkins of the world who are just looking for the next big thing to blame on their communities.

I think blaming is not an option because as said by some analysts, financial crisis is a natural occurrence in a certain country. The current economic climate in the United States is a crisis. However, Americans aren’t the only ones feeling the crunch. An article from The International Herald Tribune tells us about a small business owner, Dominique Boudier, owner of a printing company just outside of Paris, and how her business has been affected by the fast drying up of available credit. Her creditors are reducing their offers by as much as 50% or more, and it is by mandate of her supplier’s credit insurance companies. Her business has a 60 day lag in payments from customers, and she needs credit in order to keep the shop open when their payments are that late. Her banks’ hands are tied, and she is left fearing the worst as her bank, like many in Europe, puts all their liquid cash into the European Central Bank’s reserve depository, in lieu of reinvesting it into the economy and generating income. As banks fail and liquidity goes with it, credit is drying up rapidly. The European Central Bank functions much like the American Federal Reserve Bank to create fiat money as required. Fiat currency is effectively credit currency, but as a government’s guarantee of its value decreases, so does its value. The natural result is high inflation rates, which is happening currently. The consensus amongst many is that stronger banking systems is the correct medicine. Until the correct changes are in place, payday advance loans will be easier to come by for consumers who need short term help immediately and can’t afford to wait for the banking system.

The president-elect seemed in a lighthearted mood as he made the announcement. Now President-elect Barack Obama is building his own cabinet, and speculation over who will get the top positions has risen to a fever pitch in Washington. Payday loans couldn’t buy that much ego in the Oval Office, could they? Yet it will be a Cabinet for the ages. What I’m talking about is President-elect Barack Obama’s picks for Cabinet. They’ve been announced, and critics are wondering how he’s going to manage such a strong group. “I’m a believer in strong personalities and strong opinions,” said Obama, and he’s going to get all of that. Political veterans who are used will lead national security and economic policy teams to being number one. As far as matters of national security go, Obama will team Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Vice President Joe Biden, retired four-star Marine Gen. Jim Jones as national security adviser and four-star Gen. David Petraeus as chief of U.S. Central Command. The economic team Obama has put together is also impressive: National Economic Council head Larry Summers, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker as the lead of Obama’s economic recovery advisory board. White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel has been described as “hard-charging,” adding another strong personality into a governing mix that could be volatile if Obama proves unable to rein them in with a firm, pragmatic hand. Like a payday loan that takes a bite out of a budgeting battle, Obama is poised to glean wisdom from this powerful group. He may be looking to further build upon the Democratic Party’s recent gains, but if he’s going to do so, he’ll have to be able to go toe-to-toe with a roomful of political giants. The 2008 US Election was successful and now we have our new President. After winning the Election, President elect Barack Obama must have his new sets of cabinet members. Timothy F. Geithner, the Obama nominee for Treasury Secretary, had owed a large sum of money to the Internal Revenue Service. I wonder if he needed a payday loan to help pay off his $42,000 debt with the IRS. Apparently Geither’s tax mistakes occurred during the time he worked for the International Monetary Fund back in 2001-2004. It seems that U.S. law mixed with working for an international company was too complicated for Geithner. Fortunately, getting a payday loan is absolutely simple. Obama and his team are defending the nominee, stating that the errors were an honest mistake and there is no good reason why Geithner should not be the next United States Secretary of the Treasury. When you really think about it though, the incident happened five years ago. By now, he is probably a lot better with his taxes. In addition, he did pay back the money he owed plus interest. However, I am a bit hesitant to put a man who was unable to handle his personal financial dealings in charge of the entire country’s finances

I’m a dyed-in-the-wool conservative, and I definitely prefer Target to Walmart.
Boycott Target?Sohbet Yeah, I heard about it, of course. I’m not playing though, even though I’m not terribly fond of Target because a lot of their stuff is the same old junk Walmart has.
That being said, sohbet I agree with you, there IS political bandwagon-hopping going on, sohbet
if you ask me. I’m all for a good cause or a good boycott, but come ON
